Angelina Jolie tattoo signs - celebrity tattoos trends

Even if you haven't figured out what tattoo style you like the most, generic artwork won't cut it. You can't make good, informed decisions about what you will ultimately like in the long run while staring at pages filled with cookie cutter design choices. That's probably the kind of artwork you've been seeing lately, though. That's why I'm sharing two straight forward tips on easily finding amazing galleries for the tattoo styles you love.

This is not about finding a couple of half decent designs. No. It's about finally getting to dive into the artwork sites that truly take pride in having databases of real artwork, made by real artists. Most of the generic junk out there doesn't even come close to this top of the line stuff. Like I hinted at above, though, many of you are drowning in a sea of cookie cutter tattoos for the tattoo styles you're looking for. It's almost as if every site you go to has a replica of the generic stuff you just saw at another website.

This is what happens if you are relying too heavily on the assistance of search engines to find artwork galleries for you. It's best to step away from search engines and leave them alone in a cold, dark corner. They do more harm than good, because they very rarely pull up the high quality artwork sites in their listings. They've all been left out, in favor of flashier looking websites that are packed with generic junk. With that said, I have one more tip to share and it's the most important one: Now is the time to use big forums as your main method of finding wonderful artwork for your tattoo styles.

Leave the smaller forums alone, because it's the big ones which will be loaded with topics about tattoos. All of them are tucked away in their archives, which is easily accessible. You just hop in there, pick a few of the larger topics on the subject and dive into them. Why are you doing this, you ask? It's because of the countless number of names and inks to superb galleries you can pull out of the topics. People are always kindly giving this info, leading you to such amazing artwork websites that are sure to have some of the best artwork for any tattoo styles you want. It's the perfect way to weed out the generic stuff, while getting a fresh look at real stuff.

Mystical Koi Tattoos
japanese tattoo art design for men

japanese tattoo art design for menTattooing has been a practice since ancient times and has served as symbols of religious and spiritual devotion, marks of status and rank as well as marks of outcasts, slaves and convicts. The symbolism varies in different countries and cultures. Today, people choose to have tattoos for cosmetic and sentimental reasons, a form of self representation as well as identification with particular groups.

Among the different designs available, the koi fish tattoos are becoming increasingly popular with both men and women, most probably due to its mystical symbolism. Koi fish in fact are a type of carp that are specially bred to have wild and brilliant color schemes, bearing a general symbolic meaning of good luck. In Japanese folklore, the koi fish represents the overcoming of obstacles as told in a legend where the koi fish swam up the Yellow river against the current to be magically transformed into a dragon. This clearly gives emphasis to the overcoming of adversities in life. It also stress on perseverance and strength.

Another belief suggests that the symbol of the koi is like a Samurai warrior with an uncompromising bravery. It has been narrated that the koi after being caught by a fisherman laid rigid on the slab embracing its fate without quivering, just like a Samurai accepting death in an honorable manner. Therefore, the koi fish reflects the stoic heroism of a Samurai warrior. The traditions and stories, of course, differ from countries and cultures but the symbol and mythology of it are most prominent in Japan.

Generally men tend to place the koi fish tattoos on their back, arms, shoulders and calf areas. One of the popular and traditional designs is large koi tattoos done on the back while others prefer full sleeve designs. Women, on the other hand, prefer to position the designs on their arms, thighs, hips and stomach areas. The choice of colors is recommended to suit the individual's skin tone.

Generally koi fish tattoos reveal many colors with intricate shadings and movements against current. The different shades carry different meanings. Gold koi represents wealth and prosperity while platinum or silver koi represents success in business. White koi means advancement in social settings while red koi suggests success in love and romance. Amidst the shades, the black koi is most likely to be the ones transformed into dragons which explain the popularity of the color.

Koi Fish Tattoo and Lotus Flower Tattoo - Fighting the Odds
By Matthew J Stine

Imagine a koi fish at its sexual peak, fighting the strong currents of a river just to go upstream. Imagine the dangers this fish has to face while jumping and swimming its way towards the upstream, facing predators and friends alike. Imagine the hard work this koi fish would have to exert just to finally reach the goal place.

Now, imagine a dark and muddy place where you have to germinate as a creature about to become a lotus flower. Imagine the stillness and the coldness of the mud and how patient the bud is underneath the murk. Imagine the crippling dark below the covers of the mud.

For the first part of the imagination, it explains how the koi fish battles a scenario wherein all odds are against it. Gravity, the water current, predators, etcetera, you name it, it was definitely not with the koi fish' agenda. But, like a trusty and loyal foot soldier it does its best to accomplish its goal to reach the upstream to eat and breed.

For the second part, it explains how the lotus flower patiently and steadily emerges form a disappointing situation towards a better circumstance. And in the end, the lotus flower not only blooms full of life, it also exudes so much beauty, positiveness and goodness.

These are basically the reasons why people get koi fish tattoos and lotus flower tattoos. These Japanese style tattoos are really best for people who have gone through hell and have emerged victorious. These are two perfect symbols for those who have made it trough the rain.
